The Country Music Association Awards is a major awards show in country music, with the highest honor being the award for entertainer of the year. In 1972, Loretta Lynn became the first female artist to be honored with this award. Since then, only five women (Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Barbara Mandrell, Shania Twain and Taylor Swift have received the award, with Mandrell being the first artist to win twice and Swift being the only other female to win twice. The Dixie Chicks are the only female group to win.
